To All The Hardworking Shriners.......
A tremendous thank you to each and every Shriner that took time on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, yes some even worked on Sunday, to collect funds for our Shriners Hospitals For Children. The effort taken to be at the various sites and greet the folks coming and going, handing out our "Shriners Paper" and remembering to thank those that contributed monies to our cause, is most appreciated!
As I traveled to the various sites with PP Dick Frembes and clowns "Racer" and "Rogie" aboard our Shriners Child Care Coach, I gained and even greater appreciation for the support of the public showed for our guys in the "Red Buckets!" We encountered several folks that had had a first-hand experience with a patient, be it a relative or a friend, of our hospitals.
While attempting to secure clearance to solicit funds at the Troy Walmart (unsuccessful due to the stringent requirements of the City of Troy - that is for now!) I encountered a young adult male in a wheelchair that was working as a greeter-direction giver. He asked if he could assist me and when I told him that I was a Shriner and I needed to talk to the manager, he replied, "don't worry I'll get her for you. You just wait here with me." As I waited as directed, he said "You know what? I'm a Shrine Kid. I was operated on at the Chicago Hospital when I was real young!"
Folks, you just don't know where or when you'll run into one of our Kids!
Again, Thanks to every single guy that stood outside of the stores or, as in some cases, dared to tread among the cars on the roadway to get those funds, a sincere heartfelt thank you on behalf of Moslem Shriners Child Care Program.
