Coming up ... Moslem's 2009 Parade Season Begins!

Get ready Michigan, cause here comes ...

The Detroit Area Shriners!

If you listen real hard, you can almost hear the bands tuning up, the hustle and bustle of the staging area, and the growing chatter of the crowds as they hurry to get a good spot on the curb. A good spot? ... you bet! That's because they all know what's coming. It won't be very long before we line up, start up those engines, sound the downbeat, and step out onto the street as "Mighty Moslem" begins another great summer season of parading. We'll be marching down Main Street in "Your Town" Southeastern Michigan very soon now!

This year we begin with the St. Clair Shores Memorial Day parade on Sunday, May 24th. This beautiful Great Lakes shore line city absolutely loves a parade, and they turn out in droves to prove it. We will be parading on the popular Jefferson Avenue parade route this year which always produces a bumper crop of enthusiastic parade watchers all along the way. If this is your first time, participating in, or just watching a Moslem Shrine parade, you're in for a treat. You'll find that just by being there, you'll experience the energy and excitement that Moslem's Units and marchers always generate during parade season.

Then we're off to the beautiful city of Sterling Heights the very next day, Monday, May 25th, for that city's Memorial Day parade. Again, Sterling Heights always produces large crowds of parade goers, all ready and waiting to watch Moslem's finest do their thing down Dodge Park Rd. What a great way to kick off our 2009 parade season with two, high profile, back to back parades right off the bat.

If you've never experienced seeing our Detroit Area Shriners on parade, this summer is full of opportunities to catch us in action in a city near you. Watch this site throughout the summer for our parade appearance schedule, then slap on some sunscreen, load mamma and the kids into the car, and come on out and watch us "do our stuff!" Treat your family to an American tradition as old as standing in line at the ice cream shop in summer. A good old home town parade complete with the guys in the tiny cars and distinctive red hats ... the guys they call "The Shriners!"

Three's a Charm!
Three's a Charm!
... and maybe a New Moslem Record!

Our recent Spring Ceremonial generated what may well be a new record at Moslem. Three generations, of the same family, all becoming Moslem Shriners on the same day and in the same class.

Please meet  brand new Moslem Nobles Jeffery Hayes, Zachary Hayes, and Adam Hayes. (left to right in photo)   (photo by Don Kincheloe - Moslem Chief Photographer)

They are also (in order) Grandfather, Son, and Grandson. All reside in St Clair, Mi, and again all three enjoy hunting, fishing, and motorcycle riding. Noble Jeff is a retired truck driver, Zack is a millwright for Chrysler, and Adam is a pipefitter currently working on location in Ohio. All three Nobles are members of Marysville Lodge # 498, in Marysville, MI, where Noble Zack is Senior Steward. Noble Zack had the honor of raising both his dad and his son in Marysville Lodge. Noble Zack also informed us that all three new Nobles, and Zack's Lady Charlene, will be joining Moslem's Hillbilly Clan on this coming Sunday on May 17th. Zack said that after an extensive conversation at the Ceremonial with Noble Jack Hayes from the Motor Corps, they finally determined that when your last name is Hayes, and you originally hail from Kentucky, you've got to be a cousin somehow. Top line signer on all three petitions was Noble Leon Richardson, with personal family friend Noble Terry Sumpter second signing on all as well.

WELCOME TO MOSLEM NOBLES!
It's great to have you with us!
